It might pay to side with SHOSTAKOVA at Chepstow on Thursday. This filly by Sergei Prokofiev has got better with experience and ran her best race to date beaten just a length at Nottingham when last seen. I liked the way she knuckled down and kept on once headed and that attitude should serve her well now pitched into a nursery in a race that has nice each way appeal.
Her trainer Clive Cox is having a good year with handicap debutants. He has had 36 runners which has resulted in 7 winners and 18 placed efforts and you won’t be surprised that has returned a healthy profit so no surprise if the 11/2 comes under pressure come post time.
