UK Horse Racing Tips: Cork

WHITEGATE has a notable Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes entry at York next week and represents a yard which does well with newcomers. By a leading sire, he was sold for E140,000 at a Breeze-Up sale last May so has proven ability, will now his job for today and is nicely drawn in the centre, from stall six. Tommy McJohn also has proven ability and while easily beaten by a smart type on debut, performed well subsequently at Down Royal, albeit that form isn't overly strong and he is vulnerable to smart types. Magnum Force ran well on his Naas debut but drops a furlong in distance and is now tried in a first-time tongue-tie, which is a concern.

I'M SPARTACUS has run well twice recently and met some interference when finishing a close third at Tipperary. Once rated 72, he seems ideally suited by this distance and having been dropped 3lb for inflationary reasons this week, competes from a career low rating and is again ridden by a 3lb claimer. Emerald Harmony has been raised 7lb following her Tipperary maiden win but has strong claims. This distance suits perfectly and while 3lb worse off with Comein Comein than when beaten by that rival in June, might be more progressive and should provide her flapping-experienced rider with an exciting first ride. Rappell has climbed to a career-high rating and reverts back in distance.

JUMBLY is the top adjusted-rated runner and might be ready on her first run in 102 days. Ground-versatile, she disappointed slightly in a Curragh Group 3 in May but had previously run well here in April and, last year, performed to a smart level and was Group 2-placed in Saratoga. She was withdrawn from a Leopardstown engagement last month, which suggests she will be race-fit today. Super Sox defeated today's rival Kortez Bay to win in May and while that race's smart runner-up Galen subsequently improved, Super Sox can also continue to progress, although steps into stakes company on her reappearance run. Dunum is able and dependable but might ideally prefer a slight ease in going and is vulnerable to smarter types.

PROFIT REFUSED has run well in three competitive Curragh handicaps against older horses this summer and now drops slightly in grade, racing against just two more senior rivals. Her saddle slipped on seasonal reappearance at Naas in May and while then well held on May 26, has subsequently run better over shorter distances and drops 1lb today. Kailasa won a Curragh maiden over this distance last month - from which the fifth-placed horse won subsequently, and debuts in handicaps over an ideal distance, so should compete. Linger For Longer faces a tougher task than when winning at Limerick last month but is just 1lb higher and is suited by conditions.

SHAMIDA returned from 294 days off last month but can turn around that form with today's rival Dancing Tango, as the selection now properly begins her busy autumn campaign. A smart Group 3 winner over 1m6f last year, she would ideally prefer that distance but is nonetheless today's top adjusted-rated runner and can now improve past Dancing Tango, being fully race-fit. La Isla Mujeres easily won a lesser Listed race at Roscommon (Snowcapped finished fourth) over this distance last month and while this is much stronger, she should compete. Lily Hart is able and will be chasing a black-type placing, having finished fourth at Group 3 level last month.

GET returns from a 300-day layoff and, worryingly, appears her yard's second-string but last year's form was strong and she holds two upcoming Group-race entries. Galileo-sired and well-related, she finished behind subsequent English Oaks winner Ezeliya on debut here last September, subsequently wasn't beaten far by other capable types at Leopardstown and today's rider takes off 7lb. Stablemate North Africa and Cathedral Peak are closely matched on May Curragh form but each filly is largely exposed. Both Romzina and Lagoon Nebula are out of a Listed-placed dams but make somewhat belated debuts.

LOHENGRIN has been spared by the handicapper following Friday's noteworthy performance. Formerly trained by William Haggas, he has been frustrating but has ability at this level and, at Tipperary, seemed to run above himself against much higher-rated rivals. While a ratings' hike seemed inevitable, the handicapper raised him just 2lb, which has since been cancelled out by an across-the-board 2lb deflationary drop. Anyway, and mercifully, he races over Tipperary's distance, on suitably fast ground with Colin Keane again booked. Leviosa has won just once from 29 runs and has a wide draw in 20 but has been running well. Slow-starter Share The Treasure lost all chance at the start at Tipperary on Friday but is capable of better.

JACK SPRIGGINS has been undoubtably frustrating to follow but ran well in two similar handicaps last month and is finding his level. He returned having been gelded when running well on handicap debut at Dundalk in July, from which the winner scored subsequently, and again ran nicely at Ballinrobe. Due to inflationary reasons, his rating has slipped 2lb. Elegant Madame finished second in that Dundalk race and again finished second subsequently. He is 5lb worse off today but there shouldn't be much between the pair. Bucaneer's Spirit ran well on handicap debut for new connections at Tipperary on Friday and might continue to progress, being another progressive three-year-old.
