GYTO Notebook Double for Wednesday 21st August

York 3.00 King's Gambit (9/4)

I’m confident KING’S GAMBIT is better than he managed to show at this track last month. He was beaten just half a length but that race turned tactical and it didn’t suit at all.

He was so unlucky at Royal Ascot before that and after just six starts he could still be a really nice prospect. Hopefully the Aidan O’Brien trio go forward and put good pace to the race as that will really help the selection finish.

If there are no hard luck stories I can see him getting the job done.

Los Angeles will go off favourite and has to be feared but I do think he is a little one paced and if the selection manages to show his turn of foot then I’m confident he can run him down. Illinois not completely out of it either and has a squeak too.

Carlisle 4.25 Greenwich (9/4)

I think it’s safe to say things haven’t gone to plan for GREENWICH since going handicapping. It is still early days though and he has had excuses. He was way too keen at Newcastle and then was denied a run at a crucial stage when seventh last time.

He has been dropped another 2lb and could be well handicapped now. His second to Fletcher’s Flight at Redcar looks good form and he can improve again with Cieren Fallon now getting the leg up.

Space Ninja shaped well at both Beverley and Carlisle as a 2yo and despite lacking a run now with his new yard he could still be the one to give the selection most to think about. Bay Of Australia needs to bounce back but has also been given a chance down another 3lb.
