TOP OF THE CLASS (NAP) (best price 2-1) has several times proved she definitely has an eye for today’s track and although she arrives here unsuccessful in her bid to follow up her previous C&D victory, Mark Loughnane’s filly is fancied to rebound back in the right direction.

Yet to be placed on turf in five starts, she was always likely to come unstuck at Doncaster a month ago and although that sentiment came to fruition, she didn’t run too badly given she was slowly away and found herself in an uncompromising position turning for home.

Not the quickest into her stride at the Sunbury venue the time before, he did, however, find the necessary change of gear to overhaul her rivals on a much more favourable, slower surface and with the speed figure speaking in glowing terms of her performance, a run of similar magnitude she make her hard to beat on her return visit.

Whatever the fate of Top Of The Class, Mark Loughnane has another decent opportunity to bag a winner here this afternoon in the shape of FOLLOW YOUR HEART (best price 7-1) and he is worth an each-way interest at the morning odds.

In keeping with many of the yard’s runners during the early part of the turf campaign (rapeseed in the adjoining field usually the culprit), the six-year-old has been a little slow to come to hand but that doesn’t mean to say his two runs since his return haven’t been without promise.

Only beaten three lengths in a competitive contest at Doncaster on his first run for 113 days, he ran a similar race at Haydock last time out, keeping on well enough late on after being outpaced in the dash to the line from three out.

Better judged on his exploits on the all-weather, he has now dropped down to a mark that has seen him very competitive in the past and with some of his best performances produced over today’s C&D, he’s entitled to go better than his recent form figures suggest.
