GYTO Notebook Double for Thursday 22nd August

York 3.00 Elnajmm (11/4)

I have been with ELNAJMM the last twice and I see no reason to abandon him now as he bids to complete a four-timer. He was put up 10lb for that impressive Newcastle win but that didn’t stop him powering through to win with plenty in hand at Ascot last month and despite carrying a penalty could still have more improvement to come so is taken to extend the winning sequence. I think he’ll be competing in Group races eventually but this is a nice pot to take out first.

New Image is by Frankel and he is on an upward curve now getting back in the winners enclosure at Ascot last time albeit scoring narrowly. He has won 4 times this season so looks the biggest threat. La Trinidad loves it here and also arrives in winning form so has a squeak too.

19:30 Chelmsford

Chelmsford 7.30 Fair Point (7/4)

Ralph Beckett continues to go great guns and FAIR POINT is expected to take a bit of beating at Chelmsford on Thursday night. This filly by Farhh opened her account impressively at Chester back in May and then did little wrong going down just half a length at Ascot last month.

I rate that form as both Surveyor and Queen Of Atlantis who finished in front both look useful enough. She is 2lb higher but has more to come given how lightly raced she is and I’m confident she can get back to winning ways.

Never So Brave ran below par at Chester but was only beaten 3 lengths and if bouncing back could be the danger. It is still relatively early days for him so not one to write off. Alaskan Gold is also respected but needs more to spring an upset in this as it looks quite a good race on paper.
