15:07 Naas

GYTO Notebook Double for Sunday 25th August

Naas 3.07 Nighteyes (2/1)

This should be a good battle between the top pair in the betting but I’ve got to side with NIGHTEYES again. This Night Of Thunder filly has won 3 of her last 4 and was impressive over this C&D last month. She was ridden confidently off the pace and came through strongly to win easily by 3 lengths. She has a great attitude and can still do better especially over 6f which looks to be her optimum trip now. I think she’ll handle the step up in grade in her stride.

Firebird is on a hat-trick but was sent off long odds-on over C&D last time and duly got the job done. She steps into Group company now so this is a much sterner test of her credentials. She is obviously unexposed though so could still have more to come and is the likely danger.

16:00 Yarmouth

Yarmouth 4.00 Calumet (3/1)

I’m looking forward to seeing Calyx colt CALUMET out again following that 9-length romp at Windsor last month. He really hit the line hard and just kept drawing further clear in the closing stages which was impressive. He seemed to love the trip so now handicapping could easily have more to come and with Billy Loughnane getting the leg up I think he looks a good bet to go and follow up against these.

Tony Montana has run well the last twice in fiercely competitive handicaps at York and Goodwood and if in that sort of form again should be the one to give the selection most to think about. Victorious Street has a similar profile to the favourite so is another one in with a squeak.
