UK Horse Racing Tips: Down Royal

BUTTER FINGERS and Teriferma have both made winning starts over hurdles and while the latter is open to progression, the former impressed when he had 29 lengths to spare over favourite Inspire Hope at Tipperary last month. He was a gutsy winner on the Flat most recently and shades preference. Inspire Hope has since gone one better at Killarney and could close the gap a bit. Heed the betting signals as to where she stands with stable companion Teriferma.

BORN IN PURPLE may not be a Willie Mullins stable star, but she has a big chance of getting off the mark. Second on each of her three hurdling starts so far, she returned from 11 months off with a good effort at Downpatrick and is expected to strip fitter. She can go one better, possibly at the main expense of Picture Of You, who has the form to play a leading role now dropped back in class. Yokkell is a decent Flat performer making her hurdles debut and could have her say.

Gamigin returned to the winner's enclosure at Kilbeggan earlier in the month and is capable of being in the mix once again, despite an 8lb rise from the handicapper. Baltinglass Hill went close at Wexford last time and has to enter the reckoning, but the vote goes to AH REMY MARTIN. His handicap debut wasn't without promise when fifth at Limerick in May and the six-year-old, who sports cheekpieces for the first time, is likely to appreciate a drop back in trip. Others to consider include Star Harbour and Coastal World.

SYSKO may have been a beaten favourite on his debut for Willie Mullins at Galway last month, but this French Flat winner is entitled to improve for that first start over hurdles and can be given another chance. How About No is an obvious threat having hit the crossbar on both of his previous starts over timber, while Boston Jury and Southey are others with valid form claims. Jane Eire should not be discounted on her racecourse bow, especially if there is any market support for her.

Gordon Elliott has sent out the winner of the last two renewals and a bold bid is expected from his BEACON EDGE. The selection arrives in fine form and this looks less competitive than his latest task, when a good fourth in a Listed handicap at Galway. Tag Man found the odds-on favourite too good when reverting to hurdles at Cork, but should have the measure of Kilbeggan winner Run For Oscar on these terms, while Billericay Dickie could bounce back to form at any time.

Bigira struck at Wexford from 6lb lower in July, but failed to back it up on soft ground at Ballinrobe. She is likely to get ideal conditions, though, and is not without a chance along with Bayonetta, who was narrowly denied at Perth. She is 4lb below that UK mark so holds obvious claims, but JIMLI'S CAVE shades preference. The six-year-old came clear with the winner when filling the runner-up spot at Wexford three weeks ago and a 3lb rise looks fair. Dinoland is also noted.

The Declan Queally team look to have a smart mare on their hands in the shape of MOZZIES SISTER, who was always prominent when touched off in Grade 3 company at the Punchestown Festival. An easy winner at Cork prior to that, the five-year-old's experience gives her an edge over Willie Mullins-trained newcomer Sainte Tartare, as well as Dippedinmoonlight, who was purchased for 130,000 euros after an impressive point-to-point success. Last-time-out winners Love At Sea and Miss Dishy are capable of being in the shake-up as well.
