Miss Gitana 5/2 (1pt)

Three-year-olds get a really hefty weight-for-age allowance at this time of the year which is hugely beneficial over these staying trips and MISS GITANA (best priced at 5/2) is expected to get back to winning ways in this race.

She bumped into the now 89 rated Walter Hartright at Beverley over 1m4f in June when he was only rated 60 before winning both of her next two starts over 1m6f at Doncaster and at this track.

Miss Gitana could only finish 3rd on the AW at Wolverhampton but she should relish this return to turf and back over the course and distance she won over on her penultimate start. Luke Morris takes over on board and she should prove hard to beat for the in-form Sir Mark Prescott yard.

Fiscal Policy 2/1 (1pt)

This softer ground is a slight question mark of FISCAL POLICY (best priced at 2/1) but he was an impressive winner at Catterick a week ago and should prove hard to beat under a 5lb penalty. The five-year-old joined the Ruth Carr stable earlier this season where he caught the eye on his stable debut before winning after a 177 day break last week.

The handicapper has raised Fiscal Policy 6lbs for that success so he runs here 1lb “well in” at the weights under a 5lb penalty and he looks sure to run well with Joanna Mason (1/1 on the horse) retaining the ride.

Thursday - 4:00 Lingfield- Coolagh Magic 9/2 (1pt)

With five of the nine contenders running “out of the handicap” in this race, this looks a good opportunity for COOLAGH MAGIC (forecast to be priced at 9/2) to get back to winning ways.

The Anthony Carson trained eight-year-old is a six-time winner in his career off marks of 69, 75, 54, 57, 57 and 62 so he is clearly well handicapped off a mark of 52. Following two below par efforts at Wolverhampton in July, he outran odds of 50/1 to finish a close 2nd over this course and distance last time off a mark of 51.

It was reported that Coolagh Magic lost a shoe that day and despite running here off a 1lb higher mark he should hold strong claims from Stall 3 with William Carson once again on board.
