Despite being sent off at fairly big prices on all 3 starts AL AMEED has shown quite a bit of promise so far. He ran his best race to date beaten just 2 and a half lengths at Windsor when last seen last month and with further progress expected now handicapping he could be the one to beat. An opening mark of just 80 looks workable and the booking of William Buick also looks significant.

Trainers Simon and Ed Crisford have also done well with handicap debutants saddling 5 winners and 10 placed efforts from 30 runners so the stats certainly back up this selection as well.

  • Smooth Silesie – Bath 2.02
  • Red Cloud - Lingfield 2.10
  • Pappano - Southwell 4.28
  • Mostar Dreams - Hamilton 6.15

Bath 2.02 Smooth Silesie (5/2)

2 wins from her last 3 and showed a good attitude to get on top where it mattered at Chelmsford last month. 3lb higher but handles all ground and this looks another good opportunity with only three rivals to beat.

Lingfield 2.10 Red Cloud (11/4)

The step up in trip saw this unexposed 3yo get off the mark at Chepstow back in June. He has gone close twice since over a mile and a half and left off an unchanged mark may well be able to make all the running.

Southwell 4.28 Pappano (9/4)

That was a tough ask at Royal Ascot on penultimate start but this son of Nathaniel was back on the up finishing fifth at Haydock when last seen and remains unexposed over this trip. Should keep progressing and this is a good opportunity.

Hamilton 6.15 Mostar Dreams (7/2)

This Saxon Warrior filly showed a good attitude to make the breakthrough at Carlisle and then bounced back to form following a blip to go close latest. That form has been franked since and the time was good so she must have a big shout in this.
