Steve Ryder has picked out two horse racing tips for Thursday’s horse racing and lined up a third selection for tomorrow’s card at Haydock.
15:50 Sailsbury
Greydreambeliever 17/2 (1pt)
The highlight of the day is the Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes where the market is dominated but debutant winners. The one who looks underestimated by the market in my opinion though is
GREYDREAMBELIEVER (best priced at 17/2) who made a winning start at York in July. Although the form could be working out better, it was a good performance from the filly who was sent off a surprising starting price of 14/1.
Greydreambeliever showed good early pace to get a prominent position before showing a good attitude to win by ½ length at the finish from Stormy Impact with the pair pulling five lengths clear of the third. She achieved a higher RPR than both Tabiti and Jewelry in victory that day and should run well with up to four places available.
16:50 Haydock
Zarabanda 11/1 (0.5pt ew)
Both Elladonna and Naaey are respected following their last-time-out victories but I am willing to take a chance on the top weight ZARABANDA best priced at 11/1). The David O’Meara trained five-year-old finished 4th beaten only 1 ½ lengths on her previous handicap start in May off a mark of 90 before running with credit in three listed races since.
Zarabanda runs here off a mark of 89 which is only 2lbs higher than her last victory in October at Hamilton with Danny Tudhope, who has only ridden her once since, back on board. Bookmakers are offering up to four places and she should outrun her double figure odds.
16:20 Haydock
Friday 4:20 Haydock- Thapa Vc 14/1 (0.5pt ew)
At the early prices, it is THAPA VC (best priced at 14/1) who appeals most with the Mark Rimell trained six-year-old showing improved form since the application of blinkers. The gelding won by a neck in the new headgear off a mark of 71 in July before finishing runner-up on his next two starts.
He was only beaten a short head over this course and distance on his penultimate start off a mark of 73 before finishing second again behind Great Max in the Racing League at Doncaster last time off a mark of 75. The handicapper has only raised Thapa Vc 1lb to a mark of 76 and he should run well once again if coping with this step up in class.
