GYTO horse racing tips for Thursday 5th September features a stat bet for Wolverhampton and a Lucky 15 covering Salisbury, Lingfield, Newbury and Wolverhampton.

Thursday Stat Bet

I’m pleasantly surprised that Camelot filly RAVISHING BEAUTY has been overlooked in the betting at Wolverhampton on Thursday night.

She was sent off at 25/1 for her racecourse debut last year on sole start for Roger Charlton and has improved in two starts this season for son Harry. She has changed yards since and looks off a good mark now handicapping. She should enjoy going back up in trip too and should run better than her current price.

Trainer Jedd O’Keeffe does well with these types too with a 28% place strike rate over the last five years which suggests the 15/8 to hit the frame is too big and I’m keen to back the 8/1 each way as well.

Lucky 15 Tips Today

Today’s Lucky 15 from Joe Norris at GYTO pays 205/1 at the time of posting – a £1 Lucky 15 would return £565 from a £15 outlay.

  • Finn Russell – Salisbury 2.20
  • Risen Again - Lingfield 5.05
  • Candy - Newbury 5.10
  • Forager - Wolverhampton 7.25

Salisbury 2.20 Finn Russell (7/2)

I know this son of Caravaggio can be tricky to catch right but he came good at Carlisle last month and a 3lb rise won’t be enough to anchor him if he is in the same form here as this looks another winnable assignment.

He did similar last year winning at Wolverhampton and then following up off a 4lb higher mark at Lingfield so he is definitely capable.

17:05 Lingfield

Lingfield 5.05 Risen Again (5/2)

I’m surprised this son of No Nay Never isn’t favourite for this as he is clearly improving now going close on first crack over this trip at Beverley last month.

His overall profile makes for encouraging reading and with further progress to come over a mile and a quarter I expect him to serve it up to these. If he settles better then he should be ahead of his mark.

17:10 Newbury

Newbury 5.10 Candy (10/3)

That was a big run at Newbury last month going down just a length. That was his first run over this trip and despite being a bit too keen he saw it out well clear from the third.

That is solid form for the grade and despite being 4lb higher if he improves again he could have a massive chance here. He should always be in the box seat too which is another plus.

19:25 Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton 7.25 Forager (2/1)

I’m siding with the most unexposed filly in the field here.

This daughter of Showcasing impressed getting her head in front at Beverley when last seen and now pitched into a nursery she could easily progress again.

An opening mark of just 71 should prove lenient given she is unexposed over this minimum trip and I make her the one to beat.
