Steve Ryder has picked out two horse racing tips for Friday’s horse racing and lined up a third selection for tomorrow’s card at Kempton.
13:35 Bangor-On-Dee
Fumet d’Oudairies 13/2 (0.5pt ew)
Fine Margin will no doubt prove the best prospect of this field long-term but he runs here under a double penalty and that could mean he is vulnerable to the prolific point-to-pointer FUMET D’OUDAIRIES (best priced at 13/2). The Tom Ellis trained nine-year-old has only tasted defeat once in the last three years and that was at the Cheltenham Festival in 2022 when pulled up behind Billaway.
This will be the first run for Fumet d’Oudairies since December 2022 but he has a great record fresh with form figures of 1111 after 184, 367, 217 and 218 day breaks in the past. He looks the obvious each way alternative to the favourite.
14:45 Bangor-On-Dee
Both the Jennie Candlish stable and Sean Quinlan (40% and 50% strike rates in the past two weeks respectively) have been in good recent form and I am hoping that they can combine with BERGENTOWN (best priced at 13/2) in this race. The seven-year-old won over this course and distance on his stable debut last season off a mark of 85 by two lengths and once again ran well fresh this season finishing 2nd on his reappearance at Worcester when 2nd off a mark of 83.
If Bergentown can back up that recent effort then he should appreciate this return to Bangor and he should run well with up to four places available off the same mark of 83.
16:55 Kempton
Saturday - 4:55 Kempton- Enrico Caruso 5/1 (1pt)
The lightly raced John & Thady Gosden trained ENRICO CARUSO (forecast to be priced at 5/1) made a winning handicap debut at Sandown in July and the form of that victory is working out well. The four-year-old won on his final start last season at Chelmsford before no doubt needing the run on his reappearance at Windsor when sent off an unfancied 20/1 shot under a 3lb claimer.
Enrico Caruso then beat Quietness off an opening mark of 82 by a length with the pair pulling 6 ½ lengths clear of the third. Quietness has form figures of 111211 this season with that being her only defeat and she is now rated 15lbs higher than that race. Enrico Caruso runs here off a 9lb higher mark which is likely to still underestimate him and this step up in trip to 1m4f is likely to bring about some more improvement.
