In the Chapel Down Handicap, SOLOMON (best price 7/1) appeals the most to me. He wasn’t seen to the best of effect when fifth over C&D last time out in a steadily run contest, but the stronger gallop here will help matters.

His penultimate win at Haydock was good, and he wasn’t beaten far behind Notable Speech at Kempton back in February. I feel he has room to manoeuvre off his current mark, and with more to offer, he could be the answer to this race.

Kalpana, 1pt WIN, 9/4

The Andrew Balding-trained KALPANA (best price 9/4) made it three wins from six starts with a commanding Listed success at Hamilton last time out and comes out very well at the weights here given her sex allowance. 

The manner in which she dispatched God’s Window last time out was impressive, and the last time he competed on the all-weather, she finished a gallant second to Group 1 winner Inisherin. Open to further improvement, she can take the scalp of the boys in this contest.
