Theory Of Tides 12/1 (1pt)

The John & Thady Gosden trained THEORY OF TIDES (best priced at 12/1) has to bounce back from two poor efforts but he looks worth taking a chance on at the prices. The three-year-old won on his debut at Nottingham before following up under a penalty at Yarmouth by 2 ¼ lengths on his next start. That performance convinced connections to supplement the Galileo colt for the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes where he disappointed on fast ground before finishing down the field on heavy ground at Hamilton last time.

Theory Of Tides travelled well into the race last time over 1m4f shaping like a drop back in trip to 1m2f was worth taking a chance on his next start. The cheekpieces are now replaced by first time blinkers and he could still prove well handicapped off a mark of 95.

New Heights 9/1 (1pt)

Last year’s winner NEW HEIGHTS (best priced at 9/1) is unbeaten in her three starts at Epsom and is worth chancing off a 1lb lower mark. The Jonny Portman trained six-year-old won this off a mark of 75 by ½ length last season and has since dropped down from a mark of 79 to 74 in her five starts this season.

New Heights ran well to finish 5th beaten only 3 ¼ lengths last time at Sandown off a mark of 75 giving the impression that a return to form wouldn’t be far away. The soft ground is a slight question mark but she looks worth taking a chance on at the prices.

Dc Flyer 15/8 (1pt)

This looks a weak 0-65 handicap and a good opportunity for DC FLYER (best priced at 15/8) to record a third win in his career. The Kevin Ryan trained three-year-old won over this course and distance a month ago off a mark of 55 before finishing 3rd beaten only ½ length back on turf at Ayr a week later off a mark of 60.

Dc Flyer was only narrowly beaten once again over this course and distance last time when 2nd by ¾ length off a mark of 61. He runs here off the same mark in this race and he should give Hollie Doyle a good opportunity of riding a first winner for Kevin Ryan.

Friday- 3:00 Doncaster- Magnum Force 7/2 (1pt)

Big Mojo will appreciate this drop back in trip to 5f having weakened late on in the Gimcrack Stakes but his presence in this race should set it up perfectly for Irish raider MAGNUM FORCE (best priced at 7/2). The Ger Lyons trained colt won a Cork maiden a month ago before finishing a neck 2nd in a listed race at York last time when drawn on the wrong side.

Low draws dominated sprints all week with the winner Tropical Storm drawn in Stall 1 and Magnum Force being drawn highest of all in Stall 16. He travelled well into the race under Colin Keane but had to wait for a gap before staying on strongly at the finish. With a clearer run he would have no doubt have won and I expect him to prove hard to beat.
