There’s a really good turnout for the Flying Childers Stakes, and I’m happy to forgive AIN’T NOBODY (best price 16/1) for his latest no-show and judge him on his Royal Ascot success.

Kevin Ryan’s charge clearly didn’t stay six furlongs last time out in the Bahrain July Stakes, so the return to five furlongs (2-2) should see him in a better light given he has loads of pace.

I was really impressed with the way he stayed on strongly to take the Windsor Castle Stakes at the Royal meeting, winning the race with a bit to spare, and this race ought to be run to suit.

If you draw a line through his latest excuse, then he would no doubt be available at single-figure odds. Therefore, looking at the odds, he’s definitely overpriced and should do better this time around.

My straight-up win-bet in the Flying Childers is Irish raider MAGNUM FORCE (best price 11/4), who was desperately unlucky not to collect a valuable pot at York last time out when second and has every chance of making amends here.

Ger Lyons’ strong travelling youngster could easily be three-from-three, having been marginally denied in two starts in addition to winning at Cork. With a clear passage last time out, I’m convinced he would have beaten Tropical Storm.

He travelled powerfully, and despite meeting trouble, he picked up strongly and only lost out by a neck, having made up plenty of ground. The fact that Colin Keane comes over to ride him suggests he wants to gain compensation.

TRUESHAN (best price 7/2) is fancied to repeat last year’s heroics in this race. Alan King’s top-class stayer was behind a few of these last time out, but he likes it here and remains a serious force at this level.

I thought he beat Sweet William with a bit to spare in this race twelve months ago, and any arrival of rain will aid his cause. If the eight-year-old is able to perform to anything near his best, he will be hard to beat.

Alice Haynes’ FAR ABOVE THE LAW (best price 13/2) went down on his shield when a close-up third at York last time out and a repeat showing in this contest could see him succeed.

He’s improving with each start and will be taking a significant drop in grade from last time. He has been nudged up 3lb, but he’s far from the finished article and should be in the mix.

In the finale, I really like the credentials of CLUEDO (best price 17/2), who looks extremely well handicapped off a mark of 71 at present based on her second at Bath last year.

In that latterly-mentioned contest, she was beaten less than a length by Pepsi Cat, who was in receipt of 6lb and is now rated 90. She also bolted up off just a 3lb lower mark at Wolverhampton on his final start last year, too.

Her recent runner-up effort at Goodwood was an indication that she’s on the way back to form and her mark remains unaltered. Drawn nicely in stall 9 with Nicola Currie booked to ride, Henry Candy’s filly makes plenty of appeal.

Five places are generally available and advised.

FANTASY MASTER (best price 6/1) won at this course last year off a 3lb higher mark, and although he’s winless since, he’s been running really well of late to indicate a return to winning form could be imminent.

He finished third in a much stronger race than this on his penultimate start before finishing fifth of 18 at York last time out. He remains on the same mark here, and David Egan retains the ride, so he could pose a threat with five places widely on offer.
