Steve Ryder has picked out two horse racing tips for Friday’s horse racing and lined up another selection for tomorrow’s card at Leopardstown.
15:20 Chester
3:20 Chester- Glendown 15/2 (0.5pt ew)
B Associates is respected under a 5lb penalty but preference goes to GLENDOWN (best priced at 15/2) who is unbeaten on his only run at this track. The Tim Easterby trained four-year-old was an impressive 2 ¾ length winner of a 3yo handicap here a year ago off a mark of 63 and he races here off only a 3lb higher mark.
Glendown won at Pontefract a month ago off a mark of 63 but has been poorly drawn on his next two starts at Ripon and Beverley when finishing down the field. He is well drawn to get a good early position from Stall 2 here and should run well with four places widely available.
16:15 Sandown
4:15 Sandown- Hat Toss 11/2 (0.5pt ew)
Both Leadman and Star Of Orion have questionable attitudes in a finish and this looks a good opportunity for HAT TOSS (best priced at 11/2) to record back to back victories over this course and distance. The four-year-old is unbeaten in his two starts at the track with a two length victory last season off a mark of 74 and a head victory last time off a mark of 76.
Hat Toss now steps up in grade from a Class 5 0-75 handicap into a Class 3 0-95 handicap but as a result he carries a low weight of 8-8 and he should run well with up to four places available.
5:!0 Leopardstown
Saturday 5:10 Leopardstown- Old Faithful 8/1 (0.5pt ew)
Three-year-olds have a fantastic record in this handicap with five out of the last six winners including the Aidan O’Brien trained Broadhurst last season. His representative this year is OLD FAITHFUL (best priced at 8/1) who won his first two starts this season over 1m2f but has looked recently like this drop down to 7f should suit.
Old Faithful finished 9th beaten 5 ¼ lengths last time in the Irish Cambridgeshire but he should now hold strong claims with Ryan Moore back on board and first time cheekpieces added. Stall 1 should mean he can get a good early position and he should be involved in the finish.
