Steve Ryder has picked out two horse racing tips for Saturday’s horse racing and lined up another selection for tomorrow’s card at the Curragh.
16:58 Lingfield
4:58 Lingfield - Wonder Starelzaam 8/1 (1pt)
Form figures of 07404 are hardly inspiring when it comes to WONDER STARELZAAM (best priced at 8/1) but he is becoming extremely well handicapped and should be well suited by this return to the all-weather.
The Denis Coakley trained six-year-old has form figures of 1171 at Lingfield on the AW in his career including a course and distance victory in March 2023 off a mark of 75.
Wonder Starelzaam has dropped from a mark of 75 to 61 in only five runs this season but only his reappearance after 246 days off the track came on the AW at Chelmsford. Bobacious is a worthy favourite but at the prices I feel it is worth taking a chance that this return to the AW sparks improvement from Wonder Starelzaam.
18:50 Musselburgh
6:50 Musselburgh - Showtime Mahomes 10/3 (1pt)
SHOWTIME MAHOMES (best priced at 10/3) beat Ramon Di Loria over this course and distance a fortnight ago and despite that rival now 2lbs better off at the weights, I expect the Grant Tuer trained gelding to confirm that form. The five-year-old showed a strong attitude to win by a nose that day from Jackhammer with Ramon Di Loria a further ¾ length back in third.
Showtime Mahomes is 3/3 at Musselburgh in his career including winning here a year ago off a mark of 70 so he should prove hard to beat off a mark of 69 in this race.
15:35 Curragh
Sunday 3:35 Believing 3/1 (1pt)
This looks a rematch of the Nunthorpe between Bradsell and BELIEVING (best priced at 3/1) with preference going to the latter who boasts a course and distance victory this season.
Apart from a blip in Hong Kong when the ground went against her, the George Boughey trained filly has been a model consistency this season with fourth placed finishes at Royal Ascot over trip of both 5f and 6f before winning over this course and distance in a Group 2 in July.
She then finished 3rd behind Big Evs at Goodwood and then 2nd in the Nunthorpe behind Bradsell when drawn on the wrong side of the track at York.
Being drawn in Stall 1 is less than ideal with Bradsell in Stall 14 but hopefully there will be no track bias this time and she can gain her revenge.
