Lone Piper 10/1 (0.5pt ew)

This looks a competitive 0-70 handicap and a chance is taken on LONE PIPER (best priced at 10/1) whose attitude in the finish can hopefully be improved by the application of first time blinkers. The Tom Clover trained gelding was only beaten a head when 2nd on his handicap debut at Yarmouth when flashing his tail under pressure before finding a step up in grade to Class 4 company too tough last time when once again flashing his tail late on.

Lone Piper now drops back into a Class 5 handicap off a mark of 72 but crucially is now fitted with first time headgear. The son of Kingman clearly possesses a lot of talent and hopefully blinkers can mean he can show this in a finish.

Sense Of Reason 20/1 (0.5pt ew)

The Charlie Fellowes trained SENSE OF REASON (best priced at 20/1) has shown very little on his three starts to date but he could prove well handicapped on his handicap debut. The three-year-old was sent off 100/1, 80/1 and 200/1 on his three starts this season including in the Newbury maiden won by Economics!

The handicapper has given Sense Of Reason an opening mark of 62 and he should outrun his odds with four places widely available.

Tuesday 5:00 Punchestown - Jarvis Brook 10/3 (1pt)

JARVIS BROOK (forecast to be priced at 10/3) nearly defied an absence of 502 days when beaten a short head at Gowran Park on his stable debut for Paul Nolan. The four-year-old was unplaced in three starts for Dusty Sheehy when sent off triple figures on all three occasions before nearly springing a huge surprise when 2nd on his handicap debut when sent off 33/1 at Gowran Park.

The form of that run has been boosted since with the winner Polemon winning by 3 ¾ lengths since and is now rated 15lbs higher. The handicapper has only raised Jarvis Brook 4lbs so he could still prove well handicapped off a mark of 59 and should prove hard to beat if in the same form.
