There is a good chance we haven’t seen the best of MAITH AN FARHH and now back on turf and for the first time since going handicapping I can see him improving and going close in this. He does need to settle but there should be quite a bit of pace on and hopefully he’ll be the one finishing best. He is around 8/1 in the betting but it looks like he could get backed in further and that would be even more encouraging given his unexposed profile.

Trainer James Ferguson has done well with these types in handicaps switching to turf too and is operating at a 19% strike rate in the past fortnight which is also a sign he has his horses in good order so I’m expecting a big run.

I know ISSUING AUTHORITY hasn’t exactly sparkled the last twice but it is still early days and stepping up in trip here in what looks an easier race he could easily bounce back and return to winning ways. He has only had 6 starts over fences so likely has a fair bit more to come yet.

I thought THE WHIPMASTER ran well at Lingfield last time and now back at this venue off a dangerous mark he should go close. He was beaten just a neck here this time last year and has more going for him than most so 9/2 could be decent value. 

Thirsk 4.50 Style Of Life (5/2)

I’m going to chance STYLE OF LIFE coming good here. She was just too keen last time and I thought she shaped better than the bare result. This looks a good opening and if she improves again she’ll be bang there.

Kempton 5.30 Wild Angel (2/1)

I don’t usually back debutants but WILD ANGEL catches the eye on pedigree being by Too Darn Hot and Charlie Appleby has done well at Kempton this year boasting an excellent strike rate. Those with experience don’t set a high standard so I’m expecting her to make a winning start.
