Steve Ryder has picked out four horse racing tips for Tuesday’s horse racing and lined up another selection for tomorrow’s card at Sandown.
15:50 Brighton
Falsetto 12/1 (0.5pt ew)
Saint Riquier is a worthy favourite for this 0-65 handicap following his latest two victories but I am willing to take a chance on FALSETTO (best priced at 12/1) who makes her handicap debut off a lowly mark of 67. The well-bred daughter of Galileo is out of the dual listed winner Set To Music and it is rare for an Andrew Balding trained horse owned by The King to be running at this level.
Falsetto ran her best race so far on turf at Lingfield on her penultimate start and she can hopefully bounce back from a disappointing run on the AW last time here.
16:05 Yarnmouth
Warrior’s Dance 5/1 (1pt)
Another handicap debutant who looks overpriced is WARRIOR’S DANCE (best priced at 5/1) who should relish this step up in trip to 1m2f. The Lope De Vega gelding has run with credit on his three starts for George Boughey where he has finished 3rd at Wetherby, 2nd at Chester and 5th at Thirsk all over seven and seven and a half furlongs.
Warrior’s Dance now makes his handicap debut upped in trip to 1m2f off an opening mark of 76 and he is also fitted with both first-time cheekpieces and a first-time tongue tie. Silver Gunn is respected with Oisin Murphy taking over on board but it will be disappointing if Warrior’s Dance cannot prove well handicapped off 76.
16:20 Brighton
Waleyfa 11/8 (1pt)
Romanovich finished 3rd behind WALEYFA (best priced at 11/8) on his penultimate start and has since boosted that form with a victory at Chepstow off the same mark. He now gets a 4lb swing in the weights for a 4 ½ length defeat but the Daniel & Claire Kubler trained six-year-old is expected to confirm that form in this race.
Waleyfa won over this course and distance on her stable debut behind finishing an unlucky head 2nd at Southwell last time when hampered 2f out. The handicapper has raised her 2lbs for that defeat which is fair and she is expected to get back to winning ways in this race.
17:20 Brighton
Bluebells Boy is 3lbs “wrong” at the weights under a 5lbs penalty so this looks a good opportunity for the consistent ALFRED COVE (best priced at 4/1) to record a third victory at Brighton. The Tony Carroll trained five-year-old has a good record at Brighton with form figures of 01512242 in his career with five of his previous six starts coming at this venue.
Alfred Cove was only beaten a neck over 6f here earlier this month off a mark of 54 and he runs here off the same mark in this race. Connections fit him with first time cheekpieces and hopefully they can spark a small amount of improvement from him and mean that he can get back to winning ways in this race.
17:00 Sandown
Wednesday 5:00 Sandown- Rose Branch 11/2 (0.5pt ew)
Umbria ran well on her handicap debut last time but ROSE BRANCH (forecast to be priced at 11/2) is a fascinating contender in first time cheekpieces. The Hugo Palmer trained filly won on her stable debut at Hamilton on her reappearance before placing on her latest two starts at Sandown and Carlisle.
Rose Branch finished 2nd behind Laura Bay beaten only 1 ¼ lengths off a mark of 70 and that form has been boosted with her rival now rated 9lbs higher. She finished 3rd beaten ½ length at Carlisle last time off a mark of 71 and runs here off only 1lb higher in this race. First time cheekpieces should help her effort at the finish and she looks sure to run well with Brandon Wilkie taking off a valuable 5lbs.
