This looks a competitive 0-70 handicap but preference goes to last year’s winner HARB (best priced at 3/1) who runs off a 3lb lower mark this season. The Peter Crate trained five-year-old was an impressive 2 ¾ length winner last term off a mark of 69 before finishing 3rd at Goodwood on his final start last season off a mark of 74.

Harb had dropped down from a mark of 75 to 63 following below par efforts on the AW but won over this course and distance last time following a 123-day break. The handicapper has only raised him 3lbs up to a mark of 66 so he is still well handicapped on his previous turf form and should prove hard to beat.

Own Accord is respected in first time cheekepieces but she should struggle to give weight to the progressive three-year-old WINDCRACK (best priced at 3/1). The Andrew Balding trained filly relished this drop back to a mile on her first handicap run on turf when a comfortable two length winner over this course and distance last time.

The handicapper has raised Windcrack 5lbs for that victory which is fair and the stronger expected pace in this bigger field is expected to suit her even better. Oisin Murphy retains the ride and she is expected to make it 2/2 at the course.

Both Mississippi River and Saracen are well bred newcomers from top stables but it would be disappointing if CURRAWOOD (forecast to be priced at EVENS) couldn’t get off the mark at the third attempt.

The Paddy Twomey trained colt has finished placed on her two starts so far at the Curragh over 7f but the form of those runs are working out well. He finished 3rd behind Hazdann and Green Impact on his debut and the latter has boosted that form by winning his next two starts including at Group 2 level on Sunday.

Last time Currawood split subsequent Group 3 winner and current 2000 Guineas & Derby favourite The Lion In Winter and stablemate Ides Of March who has won his next two starts including a 3 ¼ length victory in a Group 3. If Currawood can replicate the form of either of those runs over 6f then he should prove hard to beat.
