Steve Ryder has picked out two horse racing tips for Saturday’s horse racing and lined up another selection for tomorrow’s card at Hamilton.
13:15 Ayr
Form figures of 00000 this season are hardly inspiring but REVICH (best priced at 8/1) is too well handicapped to ignore in a race he won last year. The Richard Spencer trained eight-year-old has been slightly unlucky so far this season; he was drawn wide at Chester in May before getting hampered when making his challenge at Goodwood on his next start. He was once again trapped wide at Chester last time when beaten less than six lengths and the handicapper has dropped him 10lbs in his five runs this season.
That means Revich runs in this race off a 7lb lower mark than last year when he won by a nose. Four places are widely available and he should be involved in the finish.
15:20 Newmarket
The Tom Tate trained EQUIANO SPRINGS (best priced at 11/1) has an impressive record at the Newmarket Rowley mile course over 6f in Class 4 handicaps and he can hopefully regain his crown in this race. The ten-year-old won this race in 2019, 2021 and 2022 and finished 3rd beaten ½ length last year off a mark of 81.
Equiano Springs ran well to finish 3rd beaten only a length at the July course in August off a mark of 78 and he runs here off the same mark. He faces some less exposed rivals but this will have no doubt been his target all season and he looks sure to run well.
18:30 Wolverhampton
6:30 Wolverhampton- Whoop Whoop 9/4 (1pt)
WHOOP WHOOP (best priced at 9/4) is unbeaten in her two starts since the application of cheekpieces and she should hold strong claims of completing the hat-trick. The Tom Ward trained filly won by two lengths at Lingfield on her penultimate start off a mark of 58 before following up under a 6lb penalty over the same course and distance last time by a length.
Whoop Whoop runs here off a mark of 67 so she is only 3lbs higher than last time and she should be able to make all once again if coping with the switch to Wolverhampton.
17:12 Hamilton
Sunday 5:12 Hamilton- Susiesparkle 7/2 (1pt)
That’s My Boy Luke is respected on his handicap debut but SUSIESPARKLE (forecast to be priced at 7/2) should be able to make it 2/2 for his new yard. The four-year-old finished 2nd in first time cheekpieces at Sligo in August when trained by David Broad before landing a gamble on his stable debut for Iain Jardine at Thirsk last time.
Susiesparkle won by 2 ¼ lengths that day under Mohammed Tabti is an apprentice handicap on Monday and he gets to run here unpenalised off the same mark. He should encounter the same good to soft ground in this race and should prove hard to beat.
