Nobler, drawn wide in 14, ran promisingly on Galway debut where he finished his race quite well. He looks sure to improve and should be suited by a mile, but that Galway race wasn't overly strong and he now steps up meeting the selection. J M's Joy was a Navan eye-catcher last month and again has place claims, under a light weight.

Four-year-old DROP THE DIP is already a dual course-and-distance winner and her rating has recently fallen to a manageable level. Ground-versatile, she has failed to place this year but ran satisfactorily twice at the Galway Festival. While well held at that venue recently, she is 2lb lower today, has a nice draw and should compete. Three-year-old Dancing Steve seemed to benefit from dropping in distance recently and while 4lb higher than when winning at Tipperary, his same jockey was unable to utilise his 3lb claim then, and the third-placed horse has subsequently won. Nibras Rainbow defeated Shoot To Kill to score at Killarney and while he is 4lb higher and was beaten subsequently at Roscommon, today's rider claims 7lb.

The blinkered DUBLIN might have sufficient ability to possibly front-run from the inside stall and win on debut. By Dubawi and out of Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Marvellous, he is presumably no star but will be ready, dry ground should suit and his rider claims 7lb. Finsceal Luas hasn't run since failing to keep pace in the 1,000 Guineas, when she may have been unsuited by racing so close to high-class leaders. The 11th-placed filly from that Classic won at Listed level next time but Finsceal Luas' absence is concerning. Quatrain hasn't run since flopping in June but had previously run well twice, with the winner of her June race scoring in America afterwards and the third recently won a maiden.

KILLEANEY BEAR will appreciate likely fast ground and can continue on his winning ways. His three recent wins have come over three different courses at today's 1m1f distance, so he's ideally suited by conditions and being a three-year-old, can continue to progress and can defy a recent 5lb hike. Expound is similarly suited by conditions and while more exposed, is just 4lb higher than when winning at Clonmel so should compete from a wide draw in 12. Complete Fiction is 6lb higher than when winning at Naas and while suited by this distance, might prefer a small ease in the ground. Sirjack Thomas is 6lb higher than at Galway but should be suited by stepping back up in distance.

PREPARATIONS ran well on her second handicap start last month and might now be suited by dropped in distance in first-time cheekpieces. Her maiden form was ordinary and she disappointed badly on her handicap debut at this distance, but showed much more at Navan. She travelled well over 1m6f that day and having been caught in the closing stages, might be better suited by this shorter trip. Beyond Your Dreams has been running over sprint distances and recently showed promise at Tipperary. She could be suited by stepping up to this distance and the market should guide. Fairy Wings showed mild promise on her handicap debut at Clonmel.

SOARCHING MONARCH has yet to win over this trip but is bred to do so and gives the impression it is within his grasp. A close up third in a stronger contest at the Galway Festival, he wasn't stopping up the stiff uphill finish. There was again plenty to like about his most recent effort when fourth at the Curragh on Champions Weekend. Scholarship is somewhat similar to the selection in that he has yet to conclusively prove his stamina for this trip. Yet to race beyond ten-furlongs, the Gerard O'Leary-trained gelding has some excellent form in premier handicap class. Stablemate Jabbar is a guaranteed stayer who looked to be on the upgrade prior to finishing second at Clonmel last time. First-time blinkers could help the five-year-old find further improvement.

With the form of his recent Curragh third having worked out exceptionally well, the Noel Meade-trained YOUNG CHURCHILL can open his account at the fifth time of asking. The winner of that aforementioned contest went on to land a premier handicap on Champions Weekend, while the second won her maiden next time out. Despite taking on a couple of unexposed potential improvers here, the gelding has crucial experience which should stand to him. Trapalanda ran a huge race on debut when runner-up at the Curragh in June. He subsequently backed up that performance when occupying a similar position at Roscommon. Strolling sets the standard off a mark of 82 but on collateral form she has something to find with Young Churchill.

The James Barcoe-trained RAIN can register a first Irish success under the in-form Nathan Crosse. A winner in France earlier in her career, the daughter of Sea The Moon has run well in higher grades than this throughout the summer months. Although somewhat disappointing at Clonmel last time, she is given the benefit of the doubt as she was forced to make the running in a small field. Redwood Queen, a six-time winner over hurdles including at this track, rates a live threat. Charles Byrnes saddled the runner-up in this race last year and in the shape of the seven-year-old, he looks to have a well handicapped mare. The Truant has been done no favours from a wide draw but is entitled to be competitive on his most recent form.
