Despite not winning in four starts to date, GAP YEAR (best price 4/1) hasn’t done much wrong and could be very well treated off a mark of 72.
He’s competed in four good races, placing in each of them, and should be suited to the stiff finish given how strongly he’s been at the finish.
The top two in the market don’t set a high standard, so providing he can get rolling early, there’s a good chance he will be in the mix.
15:20 Newmarket
The unbeaten DIEGO VENTURA (best price 5/1) did well to score at Ascot last time out despite plenty going wrong for him, and there’s a strong possibility he will rise for the occasion in today’s grade.
He will need a new personal best to beat Monumental, but he’s a promising prospect and clearly has lots of talent. With plenty more to come, James Doyle’s mount could give the favourite the most to think about.

Mick Appleby’s TERRIES ROYALE (best price 11/4) overcame trouble-in-running to score off only a 3lb higher mark on his penultimate outing and backed that up with an excellent second in the Leger Legends race at Doncaster.
If he didn’t hang left when in the clear, I have no doubt that he would have succeeded. However, he remains very well handicapped based on his Ascot success, and with Tom Marquand booked to ride, he’s a serious contender.
