Babouche, 1pt WIN, 2/1

This is a stellar renewal of the Cheveley Park Stakes, and I am going to nominate BABOUCHE (best price 2/1)  to potentially make it four wins from four starts.

This top-class youngster clocked a good time when seeing off Whistlejacket in good style in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes last time out and is far from the finished article.

Lake Victoria is the obvious danger, but she won’t afford to be the first under pressure in a race of this magnitude, and the selection is a strong traveller with a nice turn of foot.

Her handler won this race back in 2011, so the yard knows what it takes to do well in the contest, and she is drawn lovely in stall five. She is the one to beat.

Hotazhell, 1pt WIN, 9/4

Jessica Harrington’s HOTAZHELL (best price 9/4) improved significantly from his debut fourth to land back-to-back events on his next two starts before finishing second in the Futurity Stakes.

He proved no match for an on-song Henri Matisse but had subsequent National Stakes winner, Scorthy Champ, back in third, with Henri Matisse back in second. None of the remainder boast comparable form.

He is up against other promising prospects in this contest, but he brings the strongest form to the table, and a repeat of that latest success should see him make it three wins from five starts.
