Steve Ryder has picked out two horse racing tips for Wednesday’s horse racing and lined up another selection for tomorrow’s card at the Kempton.
16:55 Nottingham
Elladonna 11/4 (1pt)
William Buick has rarely given a horse a bad ride in recent seasons but he will want his time again on ELLADONNA (best priced at 11/4) from last time at Haydock. The James Fanshawe trained filly won twice at Nottingham and Salisbury when wearing a hood before failing in her hat-trick bid last time when strangely the hood was removed.
Elladonna was held up in rear by William Buick that day before going for a daring run against the rail where she didn’t get the clearest of runs before running on to finish 4th. Being a daughter of Belardo she should relish this first run on heavy ground and I expect her to get back on track off top weight with the hood re-applied.
18:55 Kempton
Kalamunda 9/1 (0.5pt ew)
The Joe Parr trained KALAMUNDA (best priced at 9/1) puts his unbeaten record on the AW on the line here and he looks overpriced in his hat-trick bid. The four-year-old was an impressive 2 ¾ length winner over this course and distance last season and confirmed his liking for the AW with victories at both Southwell and Lingfield on his previous two starts.
The slowly run race last time didn’t suit Kalamunda so James Doyle was forced to make his own running and he in the end looked laboured to win by only ½ length. On the face of that a 5lb rise seems harsh but this should be run at a much better pace and if Daniel Muscutt can get a good position from Stall 14 then he should hit the frame with up to five places available.
15:50 Sailsbury
Thursday- 3:50 Salisbury - Under The Twilight 16/1 (0.5pt ew)
This looks a competitive 0-85 handicap but preference goes to last year’s winner UNDER THE TWILIGHT (forecast to be priced at 16/1) who should once again be a double figure price. The Michael Blake trained six-year-old is unbeaten in her three starts at Salisbury including when victorious in this race last year off a mark of 83 on her final start last season.
Under The Twilight won on her reappearance at Windsor in a Class 4 handicap off a mark of 86 but has failed to trouble the judge in her next four starts in Class 2 and 3 handicaps. She has run better than her finishing position has suggested on her previous two starts but has now dropped back down to a mark of 86 and crucially now returns to Salisbury in this Class 4 handicap. Hector Crouch deputises on board which is no negative and she should hold strong claims of following up last year’s
