Steve Ryder has picked out three horse racing tips for Thursday’s horse racing and lined up another selection for tomorrow’s card at the Ascot.
16:30 Newcastle
Natzor 7/2 (1pt)
Topweight NATZOR (best priced at 7/2) drops down to Class 5 company and a repeat of his effort over this course and distance on his penultimate start should see him back in the winner’s enclosure. The David O’Meara trained four-year-old has a good record at Newcastle with a win and two places including a victory in May under Danny Tudhope off a mark of 72.
Natzor was only beaten a length when 3rd over this course and distance in August in a competitive Class 4 0-78 Racing League handicap before disappointing at Southwell on his next start over 1m4f. This drop back in trip to 1m2f at Newcastle will suit him well and he should prove hard to beat off top weight.
17:30 Chelmsford
Taxiing 8/1 (1pt)
All seven runners in this 0-60 handicap are in with a chance and I am surprised to see TAXIING (best priced at 8/1) the outsider of the field at the time of writing. The David Evans trained four-year-old has been running well this season since going up in trip to 2 miles on the AW including a course and distance success in May off a mark of 54.
He was only beaten 2 ¼ lengths when 4th here on his next start off a mark of 56 and now returns to Chelmsford for the first time since off a mark of 52. Taxiing was pushed along early at Bath last time so connections have switched headgear from a visor to blinkers and if that sparks a small amount of improvement then he can outrun his odds in this race.
19:10 Newcastle
Profit Street 4/1 (1pt)
This looks to be between course and distance winners Mereside Madness and PROFIT STREET (best priced at 4/1) with preference going to the latter who is well drawn in Stall 12. The Nigel Tinkler trained gelding has form figures of 121 at the track including a victory over this distance of 7f in August off a mark of 64.
With a record of 0-9 (no places) on turf and a record of two wins and a place from his three starts on the AW, he can be excused his latest two runs at Haydock and Thirsk and he should relish this return to the AW. Regular rider Rowan Scott is once again on board and he should prove hard to beat if getting a clear run up the nearside rail.

Horse Racing Tips Tomorrow
Friday 4:30 Ascot- Rohaan 10/3 (1pt)
The David Evans trained ROHAAN (best priced at 10/3) is always well fancied for handicaps at Ascot and the handicapper appears to have been extremely generous dropping him 2lbs to a mark of 94 following his below par effort in the Ayr Gold Cup.
Prior to that run he had caught the eye when 3rd beaten only a length at Ascot behind course specialist Fresh and it is worth remembering that he beat the now 108 rated English Oak in this race last season when rated 102. Rohaan is extremely well handicapped off a mark of 92 in this race and with the headgear removed, he looks sure to run well back at Ascot.
