16:10 Southwell

GYTO horse racing tips for Thursday 3rd October features a stat bet for Southwell and a Lucky 15 covering Warwick, Salisbury, Newcastle and Chelmsford.

Thursday Stat Bet

There was lots to like about the way LIGHT FANDANGO opened his account at Uttoxeter on penultimate start. He travelled strongly into the race and asserted two out before idling in the closing stages.

He was always doing enough though and the front pair pulled miles clear from the rest too. I know he failed to back that up to some extent when only third at Worcester last time but he had excuses that day and better can be expected now moving into handicaps.

Trainer Neil Mulholland has done well with handicap debutants this year producing 3 winners and 8 placed efforts from 28 runners so I expect the 10/3 to get backed and also the 10/11 to hit the frame is worth snapping up as well.

Lucky 15 Tips Today

Today’s Lucky 15 from Joe Norris at GYTO pays 170/1 at the time of posting – a £1 Lucky 15 would return £500 from a £15 outlay.

  • God’s Own Getaway – Warwick 4.05
  • Small Fry - Salisbury 4.50
  • Machete Beach - Newcastle 5.05
  • Pinball Wizard - Chelmsford 7.00

Warwick 4.05 God’s Own Getaway (11/4)

No surprise to see GOD’S OWN GETAWAY top the betting for this as he looked progressive when last seen winning two of his last four and freshened up he could easily still rate a fair bit higher over fences.

This son of Getaway is unexposed and given the yard have three in the race and he is the pick of Harry Skelton I expect him to run very well. Stablemate Jeffery’s Cross might be the one to give him most to think about but he does have a big absence to overcome which was enough to put me off.

16:50 Salisbury

Salisbury 4.50 Small Fry (5/2)

With three wins from his last four it is hard to look past SMALL FRY here. He convincingly beat Bittalemon at Epsom on penultimate start and that rival won readily yesterday to frank the form.

He then beat Tailorman at Chester and that horse has also gone one better since so it is all stacking up. He is 6lb higher but the hat-trick looks to be on the cards. Road To Wembley found himself back in the winners enclosure on penultimate start and is better than what he showed at Haydock so looks the danger.

17:05 Newcastle

Newcastle 5.05 Machete Beach (2/1)

Despite losing his unbeaten record MACHETE BEACH didn’t run badly in defeat when runner-up at Kempton last month. The winner made all the running and had it go all her own way. She actually looks quite a progressive filly as she has won two of her last four now so the form might work out in time.

He should have more to come with that under his belt anyway and this looks a good opportunity to bounce back. Appier has won over C&D and is a decent yardstick so don’t rule him out running well and emerging as the main threat.

19:00 Chelmsford

Chelmsford 7.00 Pinball Wizard (10/3)

I know he got a lovely sit throughout but even so that was impressive from PINBALL WIZARD at Wolverhampton and I think he can follow up here.

He obviously carries a 5lb penalty but I don’t see that being an issue and if handling the quick turnaround looks the one to side with again.

Sean Bowen is really good value for his 3lb claim too which is another positive. Nammos made a winning start for her new yard over C&D last time and is the most obvious danger. Lord Rapscallion has also won over C&D in the past and could also threaten if bouncing back.
