Steve Ryder has picked out two horse racing tips for Monday’s horse racing and lined up another selection for tomorrow’s card at the Huntingdon.
13:17 Pontefract
The likes of Top Juggler, Dark Rosa and Sir Palamedes all arrive off the back of recent wins but I am willing to take a chance on NIGHT EMPEROR (best priced at 25/1) on his handicap debut. The Hugo Palmer trained son of Havana Grey cost £42,000 as a yearling so connections will be disappointed with his opening mark of 65.
Night Emperor was sent off only 4/1 on his debut at Southwell when he could only finish 9th before finishing 5th beaten only four lengths on his next start at Thirsk. His final qualifying run was disappointing but he has been gelded since that run and is now also fitted with first time blinkers for this race. He is well drawn in Stall 3 and could hit the frame at a big price.
15:37 Pontefract
The Charlie Johnston trained YORKINDNESS (best priced at 7/1) has been running in much better races recently and this drop to Class 5 company can hopefully mean she can get back into the winner’s enclosure. The five-year-old has a good record at Pontefract in her career with form figures of 11153 and she is also well handicapped off a mark of 74 based on her two wins in September last year off marks of 76 and 81 at York and Musselburgh.
Yorkindness now drops down in grade from a Class 2 0-105 handicap to a Class 5 0-75 handicap and she looks the biggest danger to the favourite Justus.

Tuesday 4:00 Huntingdon- Ballintubber Boy 12/1 (1pt)
The Nigel Twiston-Davies stable remain in fantastic form with seven winners and six places from their previous seventeen runners and BALLINTUBBER BOY (forecast to be priced at 12/1) looks overpriced to repeat his success in this race from last year. The seven-year-old won this race last season by 3 ½ lengths off a mark of 113 before winning again over this course and distance in May off a mark of 118 by a neck.
Ballintubber Boy makes his reappearance in this race off the same mark of 118 and that layoff is no concern as he has won off breaks of 181 days, 82 days and 176 days in the past. He isn’t the most consistent horse with six wins and no places from his fifteen runs over hurdles so a win-only bet is recommended.
