Steve Ryder has picked out three horse racing tips for Tuesday’s horse racing and lined up another selection for tomorrow’s card at the Sedgefield.
13:53 Leicester
The John & Sean Quinn trained ZADKIEL (best priced at 22/1) didn’t live up to market expectations on his handicap debut last time but this is a weaker contest and he looks worth backing at a much bigger price. The grey gelding was beaten less than six lengths at Carlisle in a Class 5 0-70 handicap last time off a mark of 62 but he now drops into a Class 6 0-62 handicap off a mark of 60.
Connections also fit Zadkiel with first time cheekpieces for this race which should make the job of Jason Hart easier and he is expected to show an improved performance with up to four places on offer.
16:10 Brighton
FIGHTING POET (best priced at 10/3) has shown improved form since returning to turf with form figures of 2131 with his latest three runs all coming at this track. The Richard Phillips trained six-year-old won off a mark of 50 before finishing 3rd beaten only a length on soft ground off a mark of 53. He won by a head when dropped to this distance of 1m2f last time under Sean D Bowen and the handicapper has only raised him 3lbs for that victory.
Sean D Bowen once again takes off a handy 3lbs and Fighting Poet is expected to prove hard to beat from Stall 5.
17:30 Southwell
The Stella Barclay trained KRISTAL KLEAR (best priced at 11/10) was an impressive 3 ¾ length winner at Wolverhampton a week ago and she should hold strong claims under a 5lb penalty. The four-year-old won over 7f at Southwell in August off a mark of 56 before finishing a head 2nd off the same mark at Haydock.
The handicapper has raised Kristal Klear 8lbs for her comfortable victory a week ago so she is 3lbs “well in” at the weights under a 5lb penalty. Brandon Wilkie takes off 5lbs to negate the penalty and she should prove too good in this Class 0-58 handicap.
15:58 Sedgefield
Wednesday 3:58 Sedgefield- Cawthorne Cracker 11/4 (1pt)
CAWTHORNE CRACKER (forecast to be priced at 11/4) landed the gamble over this course and distance last time on his first run after a wind operation and he should prove hard to beat off the same mark. The Oliver Greenhall & Josh Guerriero trained five-year-old won off a mark of 79 in June but has dropped 4lbs from a mark of 84 to 80 following four disappointing runs.
A wind operation led to Cawthorne Cracker winning over this course and distance by six lengths a week ago off a mark of 80 under Toby Wynne in a conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle and he gets to run here off the same mark. That means he is 9lbs “well in” at the weights and he should make it 2/2 at Sedgefield.
