This is an open looking sprint and it might take some getting in the ground but IDLE ASSEMBLY definitely catches the eye now going handicapping. She is bred to be pretty smart being by Night Of Thunder and while things didn’t work out at Ripon when last seen she was heavily backed suggesting they think she might be pretty useful. An opening mark of just 62 likely underestimates her and she looks good value at 11/1.

Trainer Brian Meehan has had a couple of winners and a couple of placed efforts from handicap debutants this year and she could be worth chancing to come good on what is just her fourth start.

  • Fighting Poet – Brighton 4.10
  • Lord Melbourne - Leicester 4.25
  • Call Me Arthur - Huntingdon 4.35
  • Amaysmont - Southwell 6.00

Brighton 4.10 Fighting Poet (11/4)

I was at Brighton when FIGHTING POET fended off Clear Justice to get back to winning ways and I thought he was good value for that victory. It may only have been a head at the line but he was firmly on top in my book. He is only 3lb higher and is looking progressive so I think he’ll follow up.

Leicester 4.25 Lord Melbourne (5/2)

With 2 wins from his last 3 LORD MELBOURNE looks on an upward curve now and despite a further 3lb rise I think he can go in again. Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan are riding on the crest of a wave so confidence will be high. Aviemore should put good pace to the race and that should only play into the selections hands further.

Huntingdon 4.35 Call Me Arthur (7/2)

After missing just a head at Ffos Las CALL ME ARTHUR improved again to get off the mark over hurdles at Southwell. We haven’t seen him since but he is open to improvement now going chasing especially over this trip and I think he can follow up and make a winning start in this discipline. Getupearly could still do better and looks the danger.

Southwell 6.00 Amaysmont (5/1)

I’m surprised AMAYSMONT is as big as 5/1 to follow up as I thought he did it well at Wolverhampton and the runner-up is a decent yardstick at this level. He is turned out quickly under a penalty but looks to have plenty going for him and 7lb claimer Andrea Pinna retains the ride too. Kodebreaker has won over C&D in the past and looks the one most likely to give him something to think about.
