Steve Ryder has picked out two horse racing tips for Thursday’s horse racing and lined up another selection for tomorrow’s card at the Chepstow.
17:08 Ayr
Dandy’s Angel will no doubt prove popular with punters in her bid for a four-timer but this step up in trip to 1m5f is a question mark and an extra penalty will make thing tricky. Preference instead goes to EBONY MAW (best priced at 4/1) who is actually 2lbs “wrong” at the weights under a 4lb penalty but defends an unbeaten record at this track in Class 6 company.
The Ewan Whillans trained seven-year-old has been running consistently well since the application of a tongue tie with form figures of 1234251 with both of those victories coming at Ayr with the first off a mark of 61 over 1m5f and the most recent a neck victory over 1m7f off a mark of 63.
This drop back in trip to 1m5f shouldn’t inconvenience Ebony Maw and he looks sure to run well off top weight with up to four places available.
17:13 Chelmsford
Both Heaven Knows and One For Harvey who have strong form in similar races are both drawn poorly in Stalls 11 and 14 respectively and that should mean that LEBLON GIRL (best priced at 9/4) can get off the mark at the third attempt. The Alice Haynes trained filly has finished 2nd on both of her starts over 6f on turf but is much better drawn in this race being out of Stall 3 in comparison to her main market rivals.
Leblon Girl was only beaten half a length last time at Ripon and her strong travelling and forward going tendencies should really suit this switch to the AW at Chelmsford. Kieran O’Neill is once again on board and she should prove hard to beat in this race.
15:50 Chepstow
Friday 3:50 Chepstow- Good Boy Bobby 4/1 (1pt)
Recent winner Francky Du Berlais has the benefit of race-fitness over his rivals in this race but that hasn’t proved an issue for many of the Nigel Twiston-Davies trained horses so far this season and I feel GOOD BOY BOBBY (best priced at 4/1) can win this veterans’ chase for the second year in a row. The eleven-year-old won this race in dramatic circumstances last season getting back up to beat Aye Right by a neck off a mark of 132 before following up a month later at Sandown by two lengths off a mark of 135.
Good Boy Bobby disappointed off higher marks for the remainder of the season but as a result has dropped back down to a mark of 133 for his reappearance this season. This will be a much easier race than the Topham that he was last seen contesting and he should prove hard to beat for the in-from Twiston-Davies yard who are still operating at a 36% strike rate.
