Steve Ryder has picked out two horse racing tips for Friday’s horse racing and lined up another selection for tomorrow’s card at the Newmarket.
16:03 Kempton
This looks a weak 0-55 handicap and it looks a good opportunity for CLASSY HOPES (best priced at 10/3) to record a first career success. The John Butler trained colt had uninspiring form figures of 88597 when only beating four rivals before showing dramatic improvement when fitted with first time cheekpieces over this course and distance last time.
Classy Hopes outran odds of 33/1 to finish 2nd beaten a head nine days ago off a mark of 46 and he gets to run here off the same mark. The handicapper has raised him 2lbs meaning he is 2lbs “well in” at the weights and he should prove hard to beat with a repeat performance.
17:15 Kempton
Arabian Summer is a notable debutant but she will have to perform to a high standard on her first start to get the better of JETTIE’S RUN (best priced at 6/4) who was a good 2nd on her debut at this track last time. The Ralph Beckett trained filly cost 1,200,000 as a yearling and she chased home a more experienced Godolphin filly who was 4/9 last time to finish only 1 ½ lengths behind.
That rival runs in the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes today so a repeat of her debut performance from Jettie’s Run should see her get off the mark at the second attempt.

Saturday 3:40 Newmarket- Premier Ligne 16/1 (0.5pt ew)
The representatives from the Irish jumps trainers have to be respected in the Cesarewitch Handicap but I am willing to take a chance on PREMIER LIGNE (best priced at 16/1) who finished a close 2nd in the trial for the race. Trainer Hughie Morrison had the winner in 2016 with Sweet Selection and has also had Not So Sleepy finish 4th in 2019 and 2020 and 3rd in 2022 and Vino Victrix finish 2nd in 2022 so it is a race that he targets well.
Premier Ligne has been a model of consistency this season with form figures of 312222 with all of his defeats coming by less than two lengths. He was beaten less than a length by Robert Johnson over this course and distance last month off a mark of 84 when the pair pulled seven lengths clear of the third and he gets to run here off the same mark rather than his revised rating of 87. Jack Doughty has been booked to take off a further 5lbs so he will be carrying less than 8 stone and he looks sure to run well with up to eight places available.
