The more I look at this contest, the more I like the look of JUMBY (tipped at 40/1), who has some very good C&D form to his name and could easily hit the frame if the in-form Harry Davies can work his magic. The ground will be in his favour, as will the field size.

His narrow defeat (third) in this year’s Group 2 Hungerford Stakes reads well, and he came close to defying a big weight on his last start at this venue. He’s as good as any of these at his best, so he’s worth the roll of the dice at double-figure odds.

An excellent renewal of the Group 1 bet365 Fillies' Mile, and I’m going to take a swing at TABITI (tipped at 13/2), who overcame the drop in trip to remain unbeaten when winning a Group 3 race at Salisbury.

Although she only won by half a length, this daughter of Kingman only really got going in the final few hundred yards, where she looked strong at the finish, suggesting a step up in trip would suit.

She should come into her own over this trip, and her trainer Ralph Beckett and jockey Rossa Ryan could hardly be in better form as well. This is a deep race, but with more to offer, she may be equal to the task.

In the Rowley Cup, I really like the chances of BRIONI (tipped at 13/2) for the Alan King Team, who produced a career-best performance at Ascot five weeks ago and has more to offer.

The three-year-old has been hit with a 7lb rise in the handicap, but the way he pulled clear of the field to score by a widening four lengths was an indication that he has plenty more under the bonnet.

This longer trip is the only question mark, but he’s often left the impression that he could improve for it, and with man of the moment Rossa Ryan in the saddle, he’s an interesting proposition.
