Shackleton got off the mark at the Curragh 13 days ago and is respected. However, I’m really sweet on the chances of STARZINTHEIREYES (tipped at 10/3) for the Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan combination.

He confirmed the promise of his debut third (split two subsequent winners) when scoring in good style at Leicester, and the way he finished off his race suggested a step up in trip would suit better.

The form of his debut second has worked out well with the winner, Field Of Gold, running well in a Group 1 last time out, and that’s the best form on offer. Open to further improvement, he can land this contest.

SILVER PEAK (tipped at 10/3) did well to finish with a rattle and score with any amount in hand last time out despite the slow early gallop, which would have inconvenienced him.

This expensive Dubawi colt is learning his craft and is no doubt capable of better. The runner-up from his latest success has bolted up since to advertise the strength of the form.

His handler has an excellent record in this contest, too, so there’s plenty to like about his chances. He can get the better of Aidan O’Brien’s Delacroix and come out on top.

Last year’s winner, FUNNY STORY (tipped at 7/1) should be primed to go well. She hasn’t been at her best the last twice, but the return to this bigger field can only help, and connections are fitting her with blinkers as they should sharpen her up.

This is probably a touch tougher than last year, but she has undoubtedly been trained for this race again all season long and makes plenty of each-way appeal given her C&D experience and capabilities in this grade.

Funny Story, 0.5 pts E/W, 7/1
