16:20 Musselburgh

Code Purple 5/1 (0.5pt ew)

The Ben Haslam trained CODE PURPLE (best priced at 5/1) has a good record at Musselburgh in his career and he is still well handicapped on his old form. The five-year-old has form figures of 1211 at the track including two victories this year off marks of 54 and 60.

Code Purple was previously a winner at Redcar on soft ground in 2023 off a mark of 65 so he is still well handicapped off a mark of 62 and any further rainfall wouldn’t affect his chances in this race. Paul Mulrennan takes over on board and he should run well with up to four places available.

Apples Moon 15/8 (1pt)

This looks a competitive 0-100 mares’ handicap hurdle but a 7lb rise in the weights shouldn’t be enough to stop APPLES MOON (best priced at 15/8) from following up her reappearance success. The Nicky Martin trained five-year-old had previously finished well down the field in a bumper and three qualifying runs where she was beaten a total of 149 lengths but she showed dramatic improvement on her handicap debut winning by 2 ½ lengths at Warwick after a 141 day break.

The handicapper has raised Apples Moon 7lbs for that victory which could still underestimate her and she is expected to follow up that comfortable success.

15:35 Market Rasen

Tuesday 3:35 Market Rasen- Queens Venture 3/1 (1pt)

The expected favourite Western Glen is 0/12 over hurdles and she once again looks vulnerable to an improver who looks to be in the shape of QUEENS VENTURE (forecast to be priced at 3/1). The Dan Skelton trained four-year-old shaped as if this step up in trip to 2m7f would suit her when finishing midfield on both of her first two starts over hurdles and she could prove leniently treated on her handicap debut off a mark of 91.

Queens Venture has been given a 100 day break and she should prove hard to beat in what looks a weak contest for the grade.
