Steve Ryder has picked out four horse racing tips for Tuesday’s horse racing and lined up another selection for tomorrow’s card at the Kempton.
17:30 Newcastle
There are a few handicap debutants here but I am willing to take a chance on HAWAII FIVE O (best priced at 9/4) who was a beaten favourite last time. The Harry Charlton trained gelding finished well beaten on his three qualifying runs before being sent off 7/5 favourite under Oisin Murphy on his handicap debut at Yarmouth last time when fitted with first time cheekpieces.
Hawaii Five O ran well from the front that day over a mile shaping like this drop back down in trip to 7f would suit him better as would the return to the AW. Off a 2lb lower mark he should reward punters who keep the faith.
18:30 Newcastle
This looks a weak 0-52 handicap and it looks a good opportunity for MISSMIMI (best priced at 2/1) to get back to winning ways. The Tina Jackson trained four-year-old has been a model of consistency since running on the AW with form figures of 3212 all coming at Newcastle.
Missmimi won by a neck over this trip of 6f in September off a mark of 50 before looking slightly outpaced when dropped back to 5f last time when second a length into 2nd. This step back up in trip to 6f will suit and she should prove hard to beat with Joanna Mason taking over on board off the same mark.
19:00 Newcastle
The Cookstown Cafu 9/2 (0.5pt ew)
Both Inversion and Walson’s Law are unexposed three-year-olds who are no doubt open to improvement but the standard no doubt is set by THE COOKSTOWN CAFU (best priced at 9/2) with cheekpieces reapplied. The five-year-old won on his stable debut here over 7f for David O’Meara a month ago off a mark of 71 before finishing a respectable 4th here last time off a mark of 73when strangely running without headgear (had worn it on his previous five starts prior).
With cheekpieces back on and with the assistance of Danny Tudhope who was on board for his prior victory, The Cookstown Cafu looks sure to run well off the same mark with up to four places available.
19:30 Newcastle
William Haggas has a fantastic record at Newcastle in his career with a 30% strike rate so the fact he sends BULLET POINT (best priced at 9/4) to the track for this handicap catches the eye. The three-year-old showed ability in his three qualifying runs before being sent off 11/8 favourite for his handicap debut at Wolverhampton last month off an opening mark of 75.
Bullet Point still looked inexperienced making the running that day on his first run after a gelding operation so much better is expected off a 1lb lower mark and with Clifford Lee taking over on board.
19:15 Kempton
Wednesday 7:15 Kempton- Ten Dimes 8/1 (0.5pt ew)
The John & Thady Gosden trained TEN DIMES (forecast to be priced at 8/1) put in a career best performance over this course and distance on her penultimate start when only caught late on in first time blinkers and she looks sure to run well off only a 2lb higher mark. The three-year-old has a good record on the AW with form figures of 2122 in her career so her 12th placed finish in a listed race at Yarmouth can be excused.
Ten Dimes drops back down in class for this 0-85 handicap and she should run well in cheekpieces from Stall 3 with Rab Havlin once again on board.
