Primoz 11/8 (1pt)

Lucinda Russell had Choose A Copper win on his chasing debut last week and I am hoping that PRIMOZ (best priced at 11/8) can do the same in this race. The six-year-old looked a gelding full of potential when making a winning hurdling debut at Ayr by five lengths on his reappearance before slightly disappointing on his next two starts including in a Grade 2 at Haydock. He bounced back to form at Ayr in April winning a handicap hurdle off a mark of 117 in the style of a graded performer.

Primoz ran well in his two PTP starts so this transition to chasing should suit him well and he still looks well handicapped off a mark of 123 against more exposed rivals.

Mr Alan 5/1 (0.5pt ew)

MR ALAN (best priced at 5/1) has won this race for the past two seasons and with conditions to suit again this year, he should hold strong claims of completing a hat-trick. The George Boughey trained five-year-old won this off a mark of 92 on soft ground in 2022 before winning on heavy ground last season off a mark of 94. Well beaten on his first three starts this season on faster ground, he ran a much better race at Hamilton on heavy ground when finishing 5th and he has now dropped down to a mark of 95 as a result.

David Egan takes over from a 5lb claimer on board and he should run well once again with up to four places available.

Thursday 3:50 Brighton- Little Tiger 6/4 (1pt)

The William Stone trained LITTLE TIGER (forecast to be priced at 6/4) has shown improved form since the re-application of blinkers and he can hopefully complete a hat-trick of wins. The four-year-old is 2/2 under Eddie Greatrex with a victory at Leicester in July off a mark of 46 and a course and distance success last time off a mark of 49.

The handicapper has raised Little Tiger 11lbs for his 7 ½ length win last time so he is 6lbs “well in” under a 5lb penalty in this race and should prove hard to beat if coping with the slightly softer ground.
