Steve Ryder has picked out three horse racing tips for Friday's horse racing at Newcastle and Haydock.
15:30 Haydock
The Sam England trained TRILBY (best priced at 11/8) has run well on his previous two starts and should prove hard to beat from 1lb “well in” at the weights. The four-year-old won at Haydock in August off a mark of 72 before finishing a length 2nd off a mark of 76 here on his penultimate start.
Trilby once again ran well to finish 2nd at York last time on soft ground and he gets to run here off the same mark of 78 rather than his adjusted rating of 79. Regular rider Joe Fanning takes back over on board and he should gain a much-deserved victory in this race.
16:25 Newcastle
This looks a competitive six runner 0-65 handicap but preference goes to UNIQUE SPIRIT (best priced at 13/8) who won over this course and distance last time.
The David O’Meara trained three-year-old has form figures of 321 since the application of a visor with all three of those starts coming over this course and distance.
Unique Spirit is only 2lbs higher than when a ½ length winner here earlier this month and he should hold strong claims of following up with Danny Tudhope retaining the ride.
17:00 Newcastle
The Jedd O’Keefe trained SOMETHING (best priced at EVENS) was an impressive winner over this course and distance on Tuesday and he should hold strong claims of following up under a 6lb penalty.
The three-year-old finished 2nd here earlier this month off a mark of 63 before going one better last time when making all under Paul Mulrennan.
Something will no doubt try to employ the same tactics again in this race and he should prove hard to beat if running to the same level once again.
