Trawlerman got the better of KYPRIOS (4/5 William Hill) on British Champions Day 12 months ago by a narrow margin, but the latter endured an interrupted campaign and did well to nearly take the spoils considering he was far from his best.

However, since that defeat, Aidan O’Brien’s top-class stayer has won all of his six starts this year and has looked as good as he’s ever done. His latest win in the Qatar Prix du Cadran was also an excellent performance.
He has established himself as the best in the business in this division this year, and it will take a personal best from any of the remainder to see his colours lowered. The six-year-old can cap off a flawless campaign with more success.

A top-class field will go to post for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, and I’m all over the Roger Varian-trained market leader CHARYN for this contest, who can sign off the year with another Group 1 success.
The four-year-old has improved leaps and bounds this year, winning four of his six starts and finishing second in the other two. He was given far too much to do in Paris last time but still performed with credit.
His previous win in the Jacques le Marois was brilliant, and he returned as a convincing winner of the Queen Anne Stakes at the Royal meeting here in June. With none of the rest having comparable form, he will be tough to beat.
