The likes of Royal Deeside, Ez Tiger and Birdman Bob are all making their reappearance in this race and that could give the advantage to SALIGO BAY (best priced at 5/1) who has race-fitness over his rivals following his recent flat runs. The Gary & Josh Moore trained six-year-old has a good record at Plumpton in his career with form figures of 22141F3 including a 20-length victory in a seller less than a year ago.

Saligo Bay ran well to finish 2nd at Sandown in June on the flat off a mark of 77 and has only dropped to a mark of 73 following two below par efforts at Ascot and Kempton. Returning back hurdling off a mark of 100 means he could prove incredibly well handicapped and should prove hard to beat.

15:45 Pontefract

The Grant Tuer trained SOPHIA’S STARLIGHT (best priced at 5/2) won a stronger race last time at Newmarket and she should be able to follow up off only a 2lb higher mark. The four-year-old filly won four times last season and she seemed to relish the soft ground at Newmarket last time when victorious by a neck off a mark of 91.

That was a Class 2 0-105 handicap and Sophia’s Starlight now drops down slightly in grade to this 0-100 handicap off top weight. A 2lb rise seems lenient and she should be able to follow up with Sam James retaining the ride.

16:35 Southwell

Lzaz put in a huge career best last time at Kempton in first time blinkers and a repeat would see him go close but I feel he may struggle to concede weight to the progressive JUST TEN HIGH (best priced at 2/1). The Dylan Cunha trained gelding finished well beaten on his first three starts over 5f but has won both of his handicap starts since the step up in trip to 7f and the application of a tongue tie and cheekpieces off marks of 46 and 49.

Both of those victories have come on the AW and Just Ten High could still prove well treated off a mark of 54 provided he stays this trip of a mile. Rhys Clutterbuck, who has ridden him on his previous two starts, retains the ride and he should be able to complete the hat-trick.
