Although a 7lb higher mark looks more than workable, testing ground conditions could prove the five-year-old's undoing and preference is for GOLDEN AMBITION. The Ben Pauling-trained gelding found only an unexposed rival too strong over 2m3f here earlier this month and a 6lb rise in the ratings doesn't look insurmountable. Stage Show is also of interest stepping up in distance.

CALL OFF THE DOGS looked better than ever when making a winning reappearance over an extended 2m3f here last month. A return to today's trip of 2m2f holds no fears for the C&D winner and the course specialist looks capable of defying a 5lb rise in the ratings. The selection's stablemate, Celtic Ned, is making his seasonal/chase debut off what looks an attractive mark and it will be interesting to see how the six-year-old fares in the market. Mutual Respect and Hatos are others who could play a part in the finish.

Oscars Moonshine is worth noting on his first start for a new yard having been formerly trained by Paul Nicholls. The latter is represented by INCA DE LAFAYETTE, who will relish the step back up in distance and has solid claims on his victory on soft going at Taunton in January. Whatsupwithyou is another to consider based on his second at Cheltenham in April, while Colours On Canvas landed a double on testing ground at Plumpton last season and will have benefitted from a recent outing on the level.

Following a C&D double, INSTANT GAMBLER remains unbeaten over fences having completed a hat-trick with his latest success at Hexham. He won with plenty left in the tank on that occasion and a 7lb rise may not be enough to anchor Alexandra Dunn's progressive chaser. Langley Hundred has a shout off his current rating, though the soft ground is a worry for him, and Caeruleum makes more appeal having ended last season with a creditable second at Bangor.

LADY SALVADOR will be sharper for a recent comeback run over these obstacles. Still in contention approaching the last hurdle, she faded in the closing stages to finish third over further that day, but looks capable of winning over timber off her current mark and gets another chance now dropped back in trip. Tuscan Rose can feature again having been raised only 4lb for winning over 3m at Taunton in March, while the unexposed Miss Popalong placed over C&D in May and could have a say in the outcome on only her second start in a handicap.
