This race screams out each way value and WHIZZ BY certainly catches the eye pitched into a nursery off an opening mark of just 51. She was sent off 100/1, 25/1 and 250/1 so has certainly been a work in progress. She is by New Bay so has potential to do better back up to 7f and might just be worth chancing.

When you delve into the stats it is even more encouraging with trainer Tom Ward having done well with these types saddling three winners and seven placed efforts from just 19 runners. 12/1 looks too big and I’ve also covered the 11/4 to hit the frame.

Carlisle 2.20 Barlovento (5/2)
I have been waiting to see BARLOVENTO go over hurdles. He needed the experience on debut but quickly improved to win a bumper at Southwell on final start last season.
Given time since he has a lot of potential now going over obstacles and could be good enough to make a winning start against these. Geezer Rockstar impressed winning at Ascot and was highly tried at Sandown so could bounce back on return and emerge as the danger.

Ludlow 2.45 Shakeyatailfeather (4/1)
I rate Sunshine Diamond so for SHAKEYATAILFEATHER to go down just a head to that rival at Southwell was a big run. She is back down to the trip that saw her successful at Newton Abbot last month and with further improvement to come I think she can get back to winning ways here.
Dameofthecotswolds ran well when runner-up at Chepstow but could get taken on up front here which would be far from ideal. That probably leaves Geturguccion as the main threat.
16:20 Southwell
Southwell 4.20 West Acre (9/4)
This looks a straight shootout between the top pair in the betting and I’m confident WEST ACRE will take a bit of beating. He won on debut at Newcastle which is never an easy thing to do and then bumped into a smart prospect in Gallant at Kempton.
He already sets the standard here and can improve again dropped back to the minimum trip. Nahi was behind the selection last time but was too keen and if settling better does still look the danger. Bad Habits can progress further and is also respected.
17:45 Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton 5.45 Morrophore (7/4)
Kingman filly MORROPHORE looks worth keeping on side here. She shaped with promise to finish third on debut and then had excuses at Yarmouth slowly away and never able to challenge.
Given time since and stretching out in trip now she could come into her own and this looks a good opportunity to get off the mark. Izipizi blew out at Kempton last month but is better than that and if bouncing back could be the danger. Magic Dream is another one who should do better but might need more time and experience.
