The James Owen-trained WIMBLEDON HAWKEYE (best price 11/4) has won two of his four starts and was very impressive when beating Royal Playwright in the Group 2 Royal Lodge at Newmarket last time out.

The way he went through that race before quickening up stylishly was noticeably good, and he’s open to further improvement. He handles conditions and should be difficult to beat with James Doyle retained to ride.

Plenty with chances with the vote going to HAVE SECRET (best price 18/1), who is extremely consistent and deserves to win a race of this kind.

The four-year-old has made the frame lots of times off higher marks in good-quality handicaps, with his last seven placed efforts off higher marks.

He goes well on soft ground, and his second to Royal Rhyme at Goodwood last year reads well, and he’s 6lb lower in the handicap now, which makes him well treated.

This is in fact his lowest handicap mark, and his connections have been among the winners in the last few weeks, so he’s one to be interested in at double-figure odds.

WOBWOBWOB (best price 16/1) has been operating below his best of late, but is now a pound below his last winning mark and has run well on all three previous visits here.

The six-year-old is well suited to soft ground and was successful in last season’s Silver Cup at Ayr off a pound higher mark. Drawn high, off a realistic mark, he’s an outsider to consider.
