This is an intriguing three runner novice race with all in with a chance but preference goes to the least exposed BE AN ANGEL (best priced at 13/8). The Rod Millman trained filly nearly defied an SP of 10/1 when 2nd beaten only a neck on her debut over this course and distance a fortnight ago when she had the 71 rated My Mate Beattie a head behind her.

Fleetwater has an official rating of 75 but has to give 4lbs to Be An Angel so on official figures only a repeat of her debut effort could see her win this. Given that many Rod Millman trained runners often progress a lot from their debut efforts, she is expected to have improved since then and is expected to get off the mark at the second attempt with the heavy ground no concern.

The Skelton yard have started the season well and HOME FREE (best priced at 13/8) looked the type to progress well over fences this season. The six-year-old won in a first-time tongue tie last time at Uttoxeter and even though the winning distance was only a neck, it was a cosy success under Harry Skelton.

As a result, the handicapper has only raised Home Free 4lbs for that success and he runs again in a Class 4 0-120 handicap. Rattling Road looks the biggest danger following a wind operation but it would be disappointing if Home Free couldn’t follow up in this race.

16:10 Newcastle

LAUDABLE (best priced at 5/2) finished 2nd on his AW debut over this course and distance last time and he should hold strong claims despite a 4lb rise. The four-year-old has shown consistent form this year since joining the Triston Davidson stable and has finished 2nd on his latest two starts since being ridden by Kaiya Fraser.

The race a fortnight ago is working out well with the winner Something following up under a 6lb penalty (now rated 12lbs higher) and the third Val Bassett (a further 2 ½ lengths behind) winning here three days later off the same mark and is now rated 4lbs higher. He is vulnerable to an improver but there doesn’t appear to be one in this field so he should gain a well-deserved victory in this race.
