Despite remaining winless over the jumps, there’s plenty to like about FAMEAFTERTHEGLORY (best price 13/2) in the cross country event, who I have had my eye on for a very long time and should pose a serious threat.

He was last seen finishing runner-up in this discipline at Punchestown and was a massive eye-catcher on his cross country debut over C&D last year, where he jumped well and stayed on strongly to take third place.

That looked like a warmer race than this one, and plenty of his opponents have something to prove at the moment. With Johnny Burke back in the saddle and having already established his liking for these obstacles, he’s a standout choice.

LETTERSTON LILY (best price 6/1) finished line a steam train at this course last time out when fourth, and I don’t see the trip in trip proving an issue with a good pace to aim at.

She’s yet to finish out of the frame in all completed starts in this sphere, and the form of her third behind Flying Fortune at Worcester has worked out extremely well. 

Her stablemate is now a Grade 2 winner, so a mark of 114 has seriously underestimated her in a race like this. Her yard is in good form, and she’s open to improvement, so I can see her making a serious impact.
