Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's racing action
12:40 Haydock
EAST STREET (best priced at EVENS) has shown improved form since joining the James Owen with two victories over fences and he should now prove hard to beat on his return to hurdling.
The eight-year-old left Sue Smith rated 110 but following 11 length and 8 ½ length victories since being fitted with a visor off marks of 107 and 114 he is likely to be rated over 120 when re-assessed.
On his return to hurdling, East Street gets to run off a mark of 112 so he is no doubt well handicapped and he should prove hard to beat with Callum Pritchard taking off a handy 3lbs in this conditional jockeys’ race.
13:30 Ludlow
This looks a competitive 0-110 novices’ handicap chase but preference goes to OSTRAVA DU BERLAIS (best priced at 2/1) who runs here from 2lbs “well in” at the weights. The Venetia Williams stable remain in good form with a strike rate of 32% in the previous two weeks and this six-year-old should enhance that record here.
Ostrava Du Berlais finished 2nd on his reappearance this season at Warwick following a wind operation when beaten 5 ½ lengths by Paddy In The Caddy with the pair pulling 20 lengths clear of the third. That rival has boosted the form with another victory since and is now rated 13lbs higher so Ostrava Du Berlais should prove hard to beat off the same mark in this race.
19:10 Kempton
Several of his rivals are better treated at the weights and ratings in this race but ROI DE FRANCE (best priced at 6/4) is a progressive three-year-old and looks to still be improving.
The John & Thady Gosden trained colt only won a handicap here by a short head a fortnight ago but didn’t get a clear run that day and that effort can be upgraded.
Roi De France remains a horse with group level aspirations next season and he should win this under Oisin Murphy with a clearer run from Stall 2.
