The Ewan Whillans trained CRACKING RHAPSODY (best priced at 7/2) won two competitive handicap hurdles over this course and distance at the end of last season and he drops into calmer waters having finished midfield in the Greatwood Hurdle. The five-year-old was an impressive 4 ½ length winner of the Morebattle Hurdle last season off a mark of 119 before finishing a one length 3rd in the Scottish Champion Hurdle on soft ground behind unexposed novice Favour And Fortune.
Cracking Rhapsody ran well to finish 4th on his reappearance at Hexham in a strong Class 3 handicap hurdle and he now drops back into this grade having been outclassed last time.

This looks a strong renewal of the Grade 2 Peterborough Chase but it should be a race that suits NICKLE BACK (best priced at 14/1) well. The Sarah Humphries trained eight-year-old proved a revelation last season as a novice chaser winning three of his first five starts including when beating the reopposing Djelo by seven lengths in the Grade 1 Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase at Sandown in February.
Nickle Back appeared over the top in his final two starts of the season so they can be excused and he looks sure to try to make all in this contest. The removal of his regular hood is a question mark but if that means he has settled more during his summer break then that is a positive and he could catch a few of these with spring targets in mind out in this contest.

FLOWER OF SCOTLAND (best priced at 5/1) won this race in 2022 having run at Carlisle on her reappearance and she bids to do the same here off a 7lb lower mark. The Sandy Thomson trained nine-year-old won this race off a mark of 114 by six lengths on soft ground relishing the conditions and despite having a poor year last season, the handicapper has dropped her rating as a result.
Flower Of Scotland has form figures of 1113 at the track and can win this off a career low mark.
