SCARFACE had Galop De Chasse (third) a length behind when filling the runner-up spot in this grade at Newbury last month, and he should be able to confirm his authority over that rival as they compete on the same terms. Joe Tizzard's seven-year-old is a previous course winner and it would be no surprise to see him go one better. Prince Quali finished third at Newbury last time and may go well, while Kotmask isn't out of it either.

JAMES DU BERLAIS has competed in hot handicaps on each of his last five starts, including when second in the Topham in April. If he can bring that level of form to the table, then the eight-year-old ought to go close. Iroko was not disgraced in the Turners at the Cheltenham Festival in March and merits respect after filling second at Haydock on his seasonal return last time. Fil Dor can beat Jungle Boogie home for third.

Last year's winner Crambo is unbeaten at this venue and cannot be ruled out, while the Haydock scorer Shoot First is still developing as a stayer and is another to note.

VICTTORINO was a game winner of this race 12 months ago and must have every chance of retaining his crown from just 1lb higher. A creditable third off this mark in the Coral Gold Cup three weeks ago, the Venetia Williams-trained gelding gets the vote. Trelawne got his season off to a flyer at Haydock last month and, unexposed over this trip, he looks the chief threat. Rehearsal Chase runner-up The Changing Man and the consistent French-raider Heloy Delabarriere are other strong contenders.

The unbeaten Kabral Du Mathan and Secret Squirrel complete the shortlist.
