Johnny Ringo struck the woodwork over C&D on his hurdling bow and must be respected with improvement on the cards, but the vote goes to CRACKER STAR. Harry Derham's juvenile disappointed at Kempton in October having been sent off a warm favourite, but that experience will aid his chance and the cheekpieces could give him an added boost. Spartan Warrior was a place behind Johnny Ringo here before again taking third at Newcastle and is expected to be in the mix too.
Prediction : 1st Cracker Star 2nd Johnny Ringo 3rd Spartan Warrior

A mistake two from home put paid to the chances of OKAVANGO DELTA over an extended 2m7f here last month and he can make amends. Paul Robson's charge is 4lb worse off with Divas Doyen, who he defeated over C&D in November, but the manner in which he won that day would suggest it will be no barrier to further success. Winds Of Winter has been admirably consistent over hurdles and is an interesting prospect now switched to fences.
Prediction : 1st Okavango Delta 2nd Divas Doyen 3rd Winds Of Winter

LIARI was a Listed winner over an extended 1m7f here back in February and although yet to add to that triumph, the Paul Nicholls-trained five-year-old was far from disgraced in the Gerry Feilden at Newbury last time and may be able to build on it now eased 1lb. Benson was never involved in the Fighting Fifth, but his mark continues to fall and he should not be underestimated as he goes for his third successive triumph in this race. Sweet Fantasy can chase the pair home.
Prediction : 1st Liari 2nd Benson 3rd Sweet Fantasy

Paul Nicholls trained the winner of this contest in 2022 and BEAU BALKO arrives with solid claims. The seven-year-old has been thereabouts in tough handicaps on slower ground since scoring on good going at Wincanton in November and another bold bid looks on the cards. Corrigeen Rock showed progressive form over fences last season and an outing at Ascot will have blown any cobwebs away. Breizh River returns to handicap company with a shout based on his success at Kelso in October.
Prediction : 1st Beau Balko 2nd Corrigeen Rock 3rd Breizh River

PRINCE OF PERTH appreciated the step up to 2m4f when scoring here on his handicap debut. This extra test of stamina can bring further improvement from Lucinda Russell's unexposed hurdler and he is taken to defy a 6lb rise. Top Man Tom made all to score over C&D on his latest start and the six-year-old should have more to offer, while You Some Girl remains in fine form and can also have a say in proceedings.
Prediction : 1st Prince Of Perth 2nd Top Man Tom 3rd You Some Girl

It was soft ground when Scots Poet landed last year's renewal of this contest. He can go well again off his current mark, but the progressive SLUGGER makes most appeal. He has won both starts since joining Harry Derham's yard, including a cosy success at Doncaster last time. and the hat-trick looks a distinct possibility. Kingston Narcissus built on his earlier placed efforts when landing a maiden hurdle at Sedgefield and should prove competitive now handicapping for the first time.
Prediction : 1st Slugger 2nd Scots Poet 3rd Kingston Narcissus
